|WHAT IS INESCOP?|
INESCOP is a service organisation for the
footwear and related industries, formed by these companies themselves in order
to collectively deal with the technological activities which are of sectorial
interest and which cannot be carried out individually.|
Currently known as the Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries, INESCOP began its activities in 1971 and works as a non-profit making organisation, with more than 600 associated companies in the whole country.
It is recognised as a sectorial centre of innovation and technology, providing direct services, transferring knowledge and technologies and researching on themes of general interest. The activities developed can be included in the following areas:
All of the work at INESCOP is closely related to the footwear industry and allied trades because projects and services of a wide nature are developed in which the companies are involved; that is the case of the transfer of knowledge and technologies; or the development of specific projects.
The activities span the wide range of scientific and technical needs of the companies , such as testing and assurance of quality, the organisation of the production processes, the study of materials, the development and incorporation of advanced technologies, the specific training of human resources, specialised information and documentation, relations with the environment, industrial design, fashion trends and applied research in general.
The industrial situation affects more and more diverse knowledge areas, which are simultaneously interrelated (mechanics, electronics, materials etc).To deal with this condition, multi-disciplined professionals with a wide knowledge are required, and it has to be stated that the majority of people who form the INESCOP staff meet those requirements.
|CO-OPERATION IS THE KEY|
Most of INESCOP's activities involve more than one company having a similar or complementary activity, in order that the results have the widest sectorial reach possible, without interfering in the relative competitiveness of the companies.
In order to support this co-operation between companies, it participates in regional, national and European programmes, which partially finance the activities corresponding to each scope. The Valencian Technology Plan, the National R+D Plan, the programmes of Ministry for Industry and Energy, the European BRITE, CRAFT, ESPRIT, LIFE, INNOVATION, LEONARDO, ADAPT, IMPACT, RTT, etc programmes, support projects in which the sector companies participate, with the technological assistance of INESCOP.
This co-operation is also shown in the activities which INESCOP itself develops, and in various projects, in which it collaborates with other national or European technology centres, as well as with Universities and Public Research Bodies in Spain. It tries to avoid duplications, co-ordinating and optimising the application of human and technical resources, making use of the specialisation of various work groups and their contribution to the development of the sector.
|INESCOP is structured in three areas of activity:
* Support units: techno structure of the association
* Direct support units: management tasks
* Departments of a scientific or technological nature
The organisational structure of INESCOP is as follows:
In total more than 100 people
